Sold Out – Chardonnay from around the World
Friday, June 9, 2017
Chardonnay the world’s most popular white wine. Why? The reasons are many. It grows well in a wide variety of climates and soils throughout the world, from the really hot vineyards of southern France and Australia to the cooler ones in northern France and the California coast. It responds well to the many techniques winemakers may use to create the wine, resulting in a diverse range of wine styles. When the grapes are fully ripe, the wine is luscious and smooth, with aromas of tropical fruit and honeysuckle. When aged in new oak barrels, it picks up accents of cinnamon, vanilla, clove, and other spices that complement the richness of the wine. On the opposite end of the flavor spectrum are Chardonnays made from grapes picked at an early stage of ripeness. These wines are bright, bracing, and refreshing while still being unmistakably Chardonnay.
We’ll be tasting five Chardonnays from California, France, Australia, and Argentina. If you already love Chardonnay, this tasting will enable you possibly find your new favorite. And if it’s been awhile since you gave it Chardonnay try, here’s a great opportunity to renew your acquaintance. Tasting notes will include the name of the Island retailer for each wine.
We’ll also provide samples of several foods that pair well with the styles of Chardonnay in the tasting. You’ll likely have the almost magical experience when the flavors of wine and food complement each other perfectly!
