Bettie Eubanks – Living in Harmony

Bettie Eubanks lives her purpose through art.  Eubanks says she has to paint to tell her story, to express her feelings and to influence the world in her own way.  Bettie’s earliest memory of a creative moment was at the age of five.  With a box of crayons, she began drawing on the bathroom wall.  She knew there was trouble ahead when her mother would see the wall, but she couldn’t stop.  It was the beginning of a life filled with art.

An elementary art teacher, recognizing that Bettie had the ability to draw, sponsored her to attend an art program for gifted children.  So, at the age of 10 years old, Bettie went to art school every Saturday and was taught the fundamentals of drawing, painting, and sculpture. Bettie furthered her art experience while attending an art and music high school where her talent, her artist confidence and her life flourished.

Excelling in high school as an artist, Bettie was awarded a full scholarship to Parsons School of Design in New York.  While her mother encouraged her passion, she did not imagine her daughter living life as a “struggling artist.”  Bettie received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Jersey City State University and is a graduate of the Newark School of Fine Arts.  As a teacher, Bettie had the opportunity to encourage a classroom of eager minds and hearts to discover their greatness or at times fuel their will just to survive the day.  Bettie believed that there’s an artistry to teaching and creating a place to learn and pouring your heart into how others see the world.  While living in Woodstock, Bettie began to paint on barn siding.   She sold her entire first collection of 20 paintings during her first exhibit.

During the past 20+ years, Bettie has exhibited in galleries in Atlanta, Tallahassee, Martha’s Vineyard, and Palm Coast.  Bettie is an impressionist painter best known for her passionate color expressions that reflect her love of life and nature in her work.  Inspired by the ever-changing lifecycle of people and nature, her paintings now on canvas express vitality, natural beauty, and joy through vibrant color and texture.  Her work has filled many homes and are in major permanent collections in Corporations and Hospitals in the U.S. and Canada including the Marthas Vineyard Hospital, HQ of Sisters Network Inc., AACS Cultural Society, MD Anderson Hospital and the Baptist Hospital in Mississippi.

Bettie is eternally grateful for God’s blessings over these many wonderful years.
