Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse and Rosalind Productions Inc. presented a live online benefit play reading of CRUMBS FROM THE TABLE OF JOY by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, to raise money for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Over $3,000 was raised! The reading reunited the original cast, and director Adrienne D. Williams, of MV Playhouse’s acclaimed 2016 production of this beautiful memory play, set in 1950 Brooklyn where Ernestine Crump and her family are divinely led to begin their new life.
Live Online Reading was Wednesday, August 12 at 7 pm.

LYNN NOTTAGE, Playwright

Lynn's Pulitzer Prize-winning play RUINED has received an Obie, the Lucille Lortel Award, New York Drama Critics' Circle Award, Drama Desk Award, and Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Play (Manhattan Theatre Club, Goodman Theatre). Other plays include INTIMATE APPAREL (New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Play; Roundabout Theatre, CENTERSTAGE, South Coast Repertory); FABULATION, OR THE RE-EDUCATION OF UNDINE (Obie Award; Playwrights Horizons, London's Tricycle Theatre); CRUMBS FROM THE TABLE OF JOY; LAS MENINAS; MUD, RIVER, STONE; POR'KNOCKERS, and POOF! Nottage is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2007 MacArthur Foundation "Genius Grant," the National Black Theatre Festival's August Wilson Playwriting Award, the 2004 PEN/Laura Pels Award for Drama, and the 2005 Guggenheim Grant for Playwriting, as well as fellowships from the Lucille Lortel Foundation, Manhattan Theatre Club, New Dramatists, and New York Foundation for the Arts. Adrienne is a New York based actor/director. DANIELLE HOPKINS (Ermina Crump)

Danielle is a senior at Barnard College majoring in American History and minoring in Spanish. She has continued to pursue theatre throughout her time at Barnard being a part of the Columbia University Black Theatre Ensemble executive board and performing in productions with other theatre groups. Last year she played Titania in the King Crowns Shakespeare Troops production of A Midsummer Night's Dream and played Myrtle in the Great Gatsby the previous fall. She also performed in the senior thesis festival in the production of Pool (No Water). She is so grateful to be a part of this zoom reading of Crumbs from the Table of Joy and can't wait to see how it turns out!

ELIJAH JONES (Stage Directions)

Elijah is a native of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Theater includes Richard II (The Public Theatre); The Rolling Stone (Lincoln Center); The Many Deaths of Nathan Stubblefield (Humana Festival); Macbeth, A Christmas Carol (Actors Theatre of Louisville); Airness, As You Like It (Chautauqua Theatre Company). Abigail has acted with Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse (Crumbs from the Table of Joy, Passionata) Manhattan Theatre Club, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, California Shakespeare Festival, Dorset Theatre Festival, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, Women’s Project, and New Georges, among others. TV and Film includes Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Odd Mom Out, Sex & the City, Law & Order, NYPD Blue and a recurring role on Days of Our Lives. MFA from NYU Graduate Acting Program.
