MJ Bruder Munafo has served as the Artistic & Executive Director of Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse since 1995. Previously, she worked for ten years as the Playhouse’s Managing and Producing Director. She is responsible for the management of the Playhouse and the production of well over 250 plays during her tenure. Her education in the theater has been in the theater itself, but in 1994, while actively running the Playhouse, she returned to school. In June of 1997, she graduated cum laude from Harvard University’s Extension School, earning her ALB with a Concentration in Drama. Her work as a stage director spans over twenty-five years and over fifty plays; including highly-acclaimed productions of The Grapes of Wrath, To Kill A Mockingbird and Our Town, as well as productions of Proof, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Laramie Project, Master Harold and the Boys, The Children’s Hour and others too numerous to mention. In addition, she has helped develop and direct many new plays including Jon Lipsky’s Walking the Volcano in 2009, and in 2015, she directed Arnie Reisman’s Not Constantinople and Edward L. Beck’s Sweetened Water. MJ is committed to educating children and introducing them to the theater. So far at the Playhouse, she has co-founded The Fourth Grade Theater Project, TeenProv!, Summer Stars Theater Arts Camp, The Fabulists: Theater for Children and Theater Kidz. In addition to directing on the stage, Ms. Bruder Munafo has served as a casting consultant for film and television projects on the Vineyard. She is a member of SDC. MJ is the recipient of the 2005 Creative Living Award from the Permanent Endowment Fund of Martha’s Vineyard. She and her husband Paul live in Vineyard Haven.
Geneva M. Corwin

Geneva graduated from Emerson College in 2007 with a BFA in Stage Management. She interned at the Playhouse in the summer of 2006 and has yet to leave. She performs many many duties at the Playhouse including Administrative Assistant, Production Assistant and Box Office Manager. Geneva grew up in Connecticut and now lives on the Vineyard with her husband, Calvin, and their daughter, Snow.
Facilities Manager and Master Carpenter
Paul has been a familiar face at Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse for over 30 years. You may have seen him on stage, singing or acting or perhaps outdoors on Saturday mornings at THE FABULISTS. Now, however, Paul is the Master Carpenter building the scenery for all our productions.
In his previous career, Jack was a marketer of laboratory instruments for some of the top companies in the industry. He has also owned and operated a wine, cheese, and specialty food retail business in Madison, WI, and most recently was a buyer and customer educator for a fine wine shop in Lexington, MA. He has B.S. in chemistry from Lehigh University and holds an Advanced Certificate from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust.
Ernest W. Iannaccone
Technical / Production Manager
Ernie designs sets and lights for Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse, The Yard, and numerous other Island groups. He also performs at ImprovBoston. He has a BA in Music Education from Jersey City University and an MFA in Theater from New York University.
Assistant Technical Director / Master Electrician
Carl is a born and raised islander who also does technical work for The Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs, the Martha’s Vineyard Preservation Trust, and the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival. This fall he is going into his second season touring with the BLUES BROTHERS REVUE. Carl is happy to be returning to the Playhouse for a second season.
Liz Michael Hartford
Director, Summer Stars Theatre Arts Camp
Liz is simply tickled to be spending the summer with the Playhouse for a 9th season! Liz is the Director for Summer Stars Theatre Arts Camp and absolutely LOVES it! Also with the Playhouse she performs with The Fabulists every Saturday morning, and will be in MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING next door in the outdoor amphitheatre. Past Playhouse credits include THE THREE MUSKETEERS (Sabine), HENRY IV (Bardolph), ROMEO & JULIET (Mercutio), TWELFTH NIGHT (Maria), COMEDY OF ERRORS (Adriana), and TAMING OF THE SHREW (Grumio). When not on island, Liz is usually acting, teaching or clowning around Boston. Liz studied Theatre at St. Michael’s College and the British American Drama Academy. A huge thank you to her supporters–family, friends and Playhouse!!
