Lobby Rental Information

  • The Playhouse is happy to offer our downstairs Marilyn Meyerhoff Lobby space for rent on a very limited basis for community events or meetings, and to local residents for small private functions.
  • Primarily available from November – April, the standard rental fee is $100 per hour for the use of the Marilyn Meyerhoff Lobby. This rental fee includes basic cleaning fees.
  • Non-profit organizations – please contact us for information on reduced rates.
  • A security/booking deposit of $100 must be paid at the time the lessee reserves the lobby. This deposit will be refunded after the event is over and the premises are inspected. This deposit is non-refundable if the lessee cancels their event.
  • The rental fee includes use of the lobby space, kitchen and restrooms; twelve (12) café tables and sixty (60) chairs; two (2) folding tables, each six feet-long, and use of the existing general lighting and sound systems downstairs.
  • The number of people at the lessee’s event may not exceed the posted legal limit of the venue (138 is the legal limit posted by the TFD, but that includes areas of the first floor that are not part of this agreement); please keep in mind that 100 is really the very top capacity of the room, even if people are standing.
  • Rental hours include the lessee’s set-up and clean-up times. Hourly fees can be pro-rated in half hour increments.
  • If the lessee is serving alcohol, they must obtain their own general liquor liability insurance and list MV Playhouse as an additional insured and a certificate holder. Lessee must check with their insurance broker or purchase a special event policy online.
  • If the lessee sends out invitations or promotes their event, please make sure that Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse is listed as the venue only.
  • A Playhouse staff member will assist the lessee with their rental and answer any questions they may have. This person will be on the premises at the time of the lessee’s rental to open up the building and will be back to make sure the building is locked after the event. This person will also be on call in case of an emergency.
  • Lessee must provide their own personnel to serve food and drink and to set-up and clean up.
  • Lessee must supply their own paper goods and food items.
  • The Playhouse is a smoke-free facility. No smoking is allowed anywhere on the premises.
  • All Fire Exits must be kept clear at all times.
  • Lessee is responsible for any damages – please report them at once.
