Waiting in the Wings – July 23, 2020

In place of our usual festive annual summer gala, we held a virtual gathering on Thursday July 23rd at 6:00 p.m. to celebrate Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse. While we can’t celebrate with you in person this year and while our theater remains dark, we want you to know that We’re Still Here – Waiting in the Wings until we can once again take to the stage to present all of the great theater and events you have come to expect from us.

Performances included…

Tony Shalhoub performing a hilarious reading of Chekhov’s story, About Blini, adapted by Carol Rocamora
Charlayne Hunter-Gault speaking about why art matters more than ever
A scene from Kiss Me I’m Irish, written & performed by Shelagh Hackett
Scott Barrow as Hamlet, reprising his role from our popular 2018 amphitheater production
Members of the Playhouse’s Wicked Good Musical Revue
Tyrone Davis, Jr. reading excerpts from James Baldwin’s Letter to My Nephew
Dana Williams singing Stand by Me
Arnie Reisman will deliver a poem you’ll never forget
