Justen Ahren

Justen Ahren’s second collection of poetry, A Machine for Remembering will be released by Shanti Arts Press in January 2019 along with black and white photographs from him multi-year project volunteering with refugees and following Europe’s refugee routes. His new album, After the War for the Valley, a collection of poetry and songs inspired by refugees’ stories, will be released digitally later this winter. Justen is Martha’s Vineyard Poet Laureate and founder of the Italy Writing Retreat.

Margaret Emerson

Margaret Emerson is an artist and a poet. She was enticed into writing poetry when she attended a poetry writing workshop given by Jill Jupen in 2014. Margaret is a member of the MV Poets Collective and is active in the poetry community as a founding member of the MV Poet Laureate Committee, the program organizer and emcee of the Summer Solstice Poetry Celebration at Featherstone Center for the Arts, and the new organizer for the Annual Day of Poetry at the Edgartown School sponsored by Mass Poetry. Margaret has published poetry in local newspapers as well as the on-line journal, The Feminist Collective.

Steve Ewing

Steve Ewing is a dock builder living in Edgartown with his wife Claudia. They have two grown sons, Niko and Arno. Steve has been and still is the Town of Edgartown's first poet laureate. He is the author of a new book "Town Meeting Poems".

Jennifer Smith-Turner

Jennifer began writing poetry for publication while an English major at Union College. She earned a masters degree from Fairfield University and attended the Iowa Writers Workshop. She is the author of two poetry books, Lost and Found, Rhyming Verse Honoring African American Heroes (2006) and Perennial Secrets, Poetry & Prose (2003) which was nominated for the Connecticut Book Awards. Her work is included in Vineyard Poets, The Gay Head Light House Anthology, and in numerous literary publications. She has been featured on National Public Radio's Faith Middleton Show, appeared on Connecticut Public Television and on the Ivanhoe Broadcasting Smart Woman program. She was a featured speaker at the University of Pennsylvania Kelly Writer's House, and at many other colleges and universities. A member of Cleveland House Poets, Jennifer has recently finished her third poetry collection. When she isn’t writing poetry she is working on her debut novel to be published next year.
