David was born in Washington, D.C. He has studied English at Yale, journalism at Columbia, and playwriting at NYU. In his journalism career David has contributed to This American Life, The New York Times, Fast Company, Slate, and other publications. David’s first play, "The Room Where I Was Held" won NYU Tisch's Goldberg Prize, was a finalist at the O'Neill Playwriting Conference, and earned David a 2015-16 writing fellowship at Playwrights Realm in New York. David was a member of the improv comedy team "The Utilitarians," which performed once.
